Create and observe custom particle reactions in an interactive physics sandbox.

How to play

  1. Select a particle type from the panel and tap the chamber to add it.
  2. Switch to the Move tool to drag individual particles or snap stretched bonds.
  3. Open the Rules menu to change how different particle types interact with each other.
  4. Use the Pull and Push tools to apply forces to all particles at once.
  5. Complete Research projects to learn mechanics like stable bonds and fusion.

More about this game

Particle Lab is an interactive physics sandbox where you design and observe microscopic interactions. You start with basic particle types like Protons and Electrons, placing them in a chamber to see how they attract, repel, or bond. By opening the Rules menu, you can adjust friction, bounciness, and create custom interaction laws like combustion or fusion. The simulation continues endlessly as you tweak parameters, or you can test your understanding by completing specific Research challenges.

Tips
  • Ferromagnets copy the properties of nearby particles within 180 units, allowing you to create dynamic, shifting interactions on the fly.
  • If the simulation slows down, open Rules and lower the maximum particle capacity from the default 80 to a smaller number.
  • When a bond stretches too far, it snaps, releasing energy as photons; you can force this by dragging a bonded particle sharply.
Questions

How do I create a new particle type?

Open the Rules menu, go to the Particles tab, and scroll down to "Create a particle type". You can set its name, symbol, color, and physical properties.

What do the photons do?

Motion energy lost to friction or impacts becomes photon waves. These waves bounce off walls and push other particles when absorbed, transferring kinetic energy.

How do I beat the first Research level?

To complete "Molecular handshake", select the Dot particle and place one near each Hash particle to form 3 stable bonds, then wait 3 seconds.
