Train with Nurse Ava through the full urinary catheter journey: before, during, and after insertion, plus daily maintenance. Your goal is to keep the patient safe by confirming clinical indications, maintaining a strict sterile field, and securing the drainage bag correctly. You will answer multiple-choice questions, order procedural steps, and spot problems in the tubing. Each of the four stages is worth 25 Patient Safety points. First-try answers earn full points, while hints or retries earn half. Complete all four stages to earn the Zero CAUTI Certificate.
Tips
- Always use at least two patient identifiers, like name and date of birth, before starting any procedure to ensure safety.
- Keep the drainage bag below the level of the bladder at all times to prevent backflow, and never let it touch the floor.
- Review the necessity of the catheter daily. Removing it promptly when no longer indicated is the best way to reduce infection risks.

How do I earn full points?
You earn the full amount of points for a task by answering correctly on your first try without using a hint. Hints or retries will cut your earned points in half.
What happens if I get a question wrong?
You can try again, but you will only earn half points. If you get it wrong twice, you can reveal the answer, but you will earn zero points for that specific task.
How do I complete the hand hygiene tasks?
Press and hold the button to rub all hand surfaces until dry. You must hold it for the full 2.4 or 2.6 seconds until the meter completely fills up.
